Extracurricular Experience
Some of my involvement on campus includes serving as a Team Leader for Howard University's School of Business. I manage a group of 21 first-year business students and guide them through different case studies and presentations. Each team is sponsored by a company and my team is called Team 2Ambitious sponsored by PwC. With PwC as our sponsor we have monthly engagements with the team in an effort to to form a sponsor relationship as well as recruit us. I serve as a mentor to my team and let them know of any upcoming internships and opportunities.
Team leaders are the backbone of the School of Business because we are the freshman's very first mentors and friends. We make sure they get acclimated to their first year at Howard. Through this position I have been able to speak on panels and give words of wisdom to the freshman for tips to securing an internship. Mentorship is very important to me and I remember my Team Leader playing a pivotal part in my career, which is why I decided to become a Team Leader. Helping to cultivate the future leaders of tomorrow is my passion as well as increasing the amount of minorities in corporate.
I also am on the support team for The Coding Collaborative which is a coding club aimed to improve the technical skills of it's members and we do different coding projects as well using Python, Java, ad C++. This year I am working on a business within the club called CC Consulting where we reach out to other clubs on campus and do websites for them. I serve as the consultant, I am the one reaching out to clubs and spreading the word around.
Lastly I also am member of NSBE at my school. I just joined this year but it has been so great meeting like-minded students who are also interested in Tech.
